Editorial Reviews

Their first book, Apples for Life, is used as a teaching tool in my class and also in more than 30 schools in Indiana and Texas. (Their printer, Evangel Press, located in Nappanee, IN, uses their expertise as a role model for other children's books wannabes.) My classes always enjoy reading Mr. Zepeda's and Mrs. Glon's books and look forward to the next two books about the Mouse Family. --Beth Yoder, West Noble Elementary School

The story of survival during a flood on the Mississippi River (Map included). A family of mice, a mama and her four babies, follow the flow of the river atop a log without their papa who is currently missing. Mama does everything in her power to keep her family safe from various dangers. They overcome feelings of sadness, loss of their home, near drowning and a cat in addition to the raging flood waters in their journey to safety. How a family works together through adversity is an ongoing theme.

THE MOUSE ARK was recommended by the Elkhart County Literacy Council in March, 2004. A division of the Literacy Council, the committee for English as a New Language, engaged Mr. Zepeda and Mrs. Glon to make several presentations in Elkhart County, including the public library and Pinewood Elementary School. They also made their fifth annual presentation to the third grade at West Noble Elementary in Whitley County. The Rio Grande Valley area of Texas has been a major focus where Mr. Zepeda and Mrs. Glon have presented to more than 30 schools and 10,000 elementary children, third grade through fifth.
