LAURIE STORY VELA, MA AKA MOTHER GOOSE RAPPER, grew up an avid reader and writer. A poet from early on, Laurie would write stories and musical plays in grade school and get her classmates to bring them to life. Her literary productions continue today as Laurie's Stories which began in Laurie's graduate education program at UC Davis while blending phonics and whole language.

Laurie is a prolific author/illustrator who has published more than 150 Laurie Stor-E Books online. She has developed 5 series' of stories as well as nearly one hundred rhyme or song books that help develop reading fluency. (From Billy Goat's Coat: "I can't float on my coat like a boat in the moat if it's stuck in your throat!") The Laurie Story Leaping Literacy Program playfully explores all the vowels with 10 titles each in 12 phonetic sections. There are also 12 thematic sections for literacy play.

In addition to Laurie's books, she has also produced plays and 28 audio recordings of stories and songs. She has written hundreds of songs and produced 4 recordings in 2006; ChildSing for preschoolers and 3 New Thought CDs that emphasize self esteem and mind-body-Spirit connection. These latest recordings are featured on the Laurie Story website and on CD Baby. Laurie's 7 year old son sings these songs and now performs concerts with her.

The LEAPING LITERACY web site has all of the LAURIE STOR-E books and audio books along with hundreds of interactive character pages that explore aspects of language and literacy. ISBN #'s assigned range from 1-59207-000-0 to 1-59207-244-5 for individual titles as welt as (segment) packages and collections.

Laurie Story has performed her BookTelling at schools and libraries across the country for more than 15 years. Laurie Stor-E Books have been online for 7 years. Print and e-book packages are sold online and included with live interactive performances.

Laurie Story Books, Characters, Rhymes, and Songs are written, illustrated and performed by Laurie in person, in audio, video and on the web.

Interactive Book Telling Presentations with Laurie Story:
BookTelling blends the literary, visual, musical & dramatic arts. Laurie's Stories are written in rhyme & alliteration, illustrated in colorful, multi-faceted modalities and presented in interactive, participatory
performances & multimedia formats. Book pages are projected onto a big screen or wall. Audience reads, sings, moves and participates in age appropriate ways.

Grades 4-8 get a performance demo followed by computer illustration demo, and question and answer session.
